Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers has apologized after she was slammed for laughing at non-English-speaking pageant contestants.

In an Instagram live video, the 24-year-old mocks Miss Vietnam H'Hen Nie and Miss Cambodia Sinat Rern. “She's so cute and she pretends to know so much English, and then you ask her a question after having a whole conversation with her and she goes [smiling and nodding],” Summers said about Miss Vietnam, calling her “adorable.”

She goes on to say, “Miss Cambodia is here and doesn't speak any English and not a single other person speaks her language. Can you imagine?”

She recalls Miss Australia calling the situation “isolating” — prompting Summers to say “Poor Cambodia.”

Miss Colombia Valeria Morales and Miss Australia Francesca Hung were also featured in the video, which quickly sparked backlash on social media.
