No assault prosecution for Seagal

- BY NANCY DILLON

Steven Seagal won’t face prosecution after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2002, prosecutors said Friday.

“The case is declined due to the expiration of the statute of limitations,” the Los Angeles County District Attorney said in a statement.

Prosecutors did not name the alleged victim, but lawyer Lisa Bloom identified her as Dutch model Faviola Dadis.

Dadis said at a press conference with Bloom in March that Seagal (photo) assaulted her during what she thought was an audition in a room of the W Hotel in Los Angeles County in 2002.

She claimed Seagal slipped his hand underneath her clothing and began pinching her nipples while simultaneously groping her crotch.

“We appreciate the DA’s office’s careful review of this case. Its hands are tied by this unfair law which bars the courthouse door even to young women like my client,” Bloom said Friday in a statement to The News.

Dadis appeared at the press conference with fellow accuser Regina Simons, who claimed Seagal raped her at his Beverly Hills mansion in 1993 when she was an 18year-old virgin who appeared as an extra in his film “On Deadly Ground.”

Los Angeles prosecutors said in September that they couldn’t prosecute Simons’ case either because it was too old.

“The statute of limitations expired in 1999. Therefore, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence is not warranted and the matter is declined,” the DA worksheet for that case said.

Attempts to reach a spokesperson for Seagal were not immediately successful Friday.

He previously denied the allegations but refused to answer further questions about them and walked off the set of a TV interview with the BBC in October.
