For Jordan, ‘truth’ is all about ‘Us’

- BY DAVID BOROFF

This is “Us” — and it’s plenty creepy.

The trailer for Jordan Peele’s new horror movie dropped early on Christmas Day, giving fans a grisly taste of the Oscar-winner’s followup to the 2017 smash “Get Out.”

“Us,” out in March, features a family that appears to be terrorized by duplicate versions of themselves. It includes Lupita Nyong’o, “Black Panther” co-star Winston Duke and “Aquaman” baddie Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

“Get Out,” another horror film that was Peele’s (photo) directorial debut, earned him three Oscar nominations, including a win for top original screenplay.

“Very important for me was to have a black family at the center of a horror film,” Peele told The Hollywood Reporter this month.

“But it’s also important to note, unlike ‘Get Out,’ ‘Us’ is not about race. It is instead about something that I feel has become an undeniable truth. And that is the simple fact that we are our own worst enemies.”

Peele also told the trade magazine that he dedicated himself “to create a new horror mythology and a new monster.”

“I think that monsters and stories about monsters are one of our best ways of getting at deeper truths and facing our fears as a society,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

The “Us” cast also includes Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker and Anna Diop.
