NBC to pay rest of $69M Kelly contract
The divorce is final, and Megyn Kelly is keeping the cash.
After more than two months of talks, NBC News and the 48-year-old journalist have officially split — and Kelly will be paid the remainder of her $69 million contract.
The final payout will be “up to $30 million,” NBC News reported on its site late Friday.
“The parties have resolved their differences, and Megyn Kelly is no longer an employee of NBC,” it said in a statement.
Kelly, who became famous as a Fox News host, inked the three-year, $69 million deal in 2017. But her much-heralded NBC talk show “Megyn Kelly Today” faced backlash from the time of its debut.
Critics panned her offputting personality and lackluster celebrity interviews that steered awry. And reports said the show’s ratings were lower than those of her predecessors in the time slot, Tamron Hall and Al Roker.
