Qns. hubby charged in fatal slash

- BY TREVOR BOYER AND CLAYTON GUSE

An abusive Queens husband has been charged with murder, felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the fatal stabbing of his wife, and slashing of the couple’s daughter.

Jawad Hussain, 57, was arrested Tuesday at the family’s apartment in Fresh Meadows after he used a pair of knives to viciously attack his 44-year-old wife, Fatima, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. The couple’s 18year-old daughter, Manhor — who heroically tried to intervene — was slashed on her hands and wrists in the frenzied attack.

Both women were taken to a nearby hospital, where Fatima died. The daughter remained hospitalized Wednesday with serious injuries.

“This is the worst outcome to domestic violence,” Brown said. “The wife died as a result of her injuries and her daughter is lucky to be alive. The defendant is in custody and now faces the possibility of spending the rest of his life behind bars.”

Hussain has a history of abusing his wife, according to several sources familiar with the family.

Two friends of the family, both 15, charged that Fatima’s husband regularly beat her.

“(Fatima) would tell all the ladies, but she was just scared to tell the cops because he used to hit her all the time,” a classmate of one of the couple’s daughters said.

A neighbor, Chris Epps, said the family had a loud argument in front of the apartment building in December.

“They had a commotion here six weeks ago, people outside yelling and acting up. I think the ambulance came,” he said.

Faisal Choudhry, another neighbor, said he often heard the couple loudly arguing.

“They usually scream. They usually fight,” he said.

Hussain worked at a Mobil gas station on Horace Harding Expressway, and finished up a shift at 2 p.m. on the day of the gruesome knife attack, according to a co-worker.

The family has four children altogether, two of whom are under 18.
