Justin: No sex led to marriage

- BY PETER SBLENDORIO

He’s a Belieber in celibacy.

Justin Bieber says he went more than a year without having sex before his marriage to Hailey Baldwin because he wanted to strengthen his relationship with God.

“He doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff,” Bieber told Vogue. “He’s like, I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain. I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough.”

The pop star noted that he believed he had a “legitimate problem with sex” before he made the decision to become celibate.

“I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul,” Bieber continued. “And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result. There are perks. You get rewarded for good behavior.”

Bieber, 24, and Baldwin, 22, (photo) married last year after rekindling their past romance earlier in 2018.

Rumors began to circulate that the “Sorry” singer and the model had tied the knot after photos emerged in September showing them entering a courthouse, and Bieber confirmed in an Instagram post in November that he’d celebrated his “first Thanksgiving as a married man."

Bieber told Vogue that part of the reason they got married so quickly was the urge to have sex, but said there were other factors.

“When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life,” he said. “I was like, Holy cow, this is what I’ve been looking for.”

Baldwin and Bieber previously dated in early 2016 but broke up several months after going public with their relationship.
