Man slashed in fight over jacket
A 22-year-old man was slashed in the head with a hypodermic needle during a fight over a jacket near the Port Authority Bus Terminal early Sunday, police said.
The victim got into the dispute over his red jacket with a rival in front of a pizza shop on W. 43rd St. near Eighth Ave. in Midtown around 3 a.m., cops said. During the fracas, the rival pulled out a needle and slashed the victim in the left side of his head.
The bleeding victim ran to the bus terminal for help as his attacker fled. Medics took the victim to St. Luke’s Hospital in stable condition.
Police nabbed Lavon Davis, 19, of the Upper East Side, a short while later after a brief pursuit and allegedly found the needle in his jacket pocket. He was charged with assault, menacing and weapons possession.
