After their 10-point loss to Duke on Saturday, the Virginia Cavaliers have probably lost their early No. 1 seed but a victory in Chapel Hill will do wonders in helping them regain their tournament footing. North Carolina, which was beginning to dominate, struggled mightily with the lowly Miami Hurricanes two days ago before eking out the 88-85 overtime win. The Cavs, who had led the country in scoring defense entering last weekend, were gutted by Duke for 81 points. Although Virginia has only two losses on the season — both to Duke — you can’t help but hearken back to the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament when the 16th-seeded UMBC Retrievers spanked the squad by 20. The Tar Heels’ offense has been humming all season, averaging 88.3 points per game on 47% shooting. Playing at home against a suddenly vulnerable Virginia squad, I like UNC as a 4.5-point favorite. Until the Cavs can knock off the Dukies or Heels, I’m a disbeliever. Let’s lay the points (and $25) on the Heels.
