Giant DBs in new hands
Lou Anarumo is on to Cincinnati, leaving Pat Shurmur and the Giants to turn over their entire defensive backs staff from 2018. Anarumo, the Giants’ head DBs coach last season, left Thursday to become the Bengals’ defensive coordinator under new head coach Zac Taylor. Anarumo’s assistant Giants DBs coach Deshea Townsend also left in January to be the Bears’ head DBs coach under Matt Nagy. Shurmur already had filled Townsend’s position by hiring Henry Baker, 42, from Rutgers to be assistant DBs coach. He’d also hired Mike Dawson, 43, to replace Rob Leonard (Dolphins) as outside linebackers coach.

TIGER TO SKIP HONDA
Tiger Woods is skipping the Honda Classic next week as he tries to figure out a busy Florida schedule leading to the Masters. Woods has played the Honda Classic at PGA National the last four times he has been healthy dating to 2012.
On Thursday, Rory McIlroy nearly made a holein-one on the same short par 4 where Woods hit his first competitive shot in Mexico out-of-bounds. McIlroy kept right on rolling to an 8-under 63 for a one-shot lead in the Mexico Championship.
Woods opened with a double bogey and salvaged his round with an even-par 71.
