Man, 51, killed by hit-run driver

A man was struck and killed in Brooklyn by a driver who ditched the vehicle nearby and ran off, police said Wednesday.

The 51-year-old victim was crossing Linden Blvd. at Barbey St. in East New York when he was hit by a 2015 Jeep Cherokee just before midnight Tuesday, police said.

He was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, but could not be saved. His name wasn't immediatel­y released.

The Jeep, which was heading west on Linden Blvd. when it struck the man, was abandoned less than a quarter mile away at Jerome Ave. and McClancy Place.

The driver, Rodney Mondesir, 43, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash.
