Clyde: King doesn’t really care

- — With Mark Fischer

Knicks legend Clyde Frazier said publicly what we’ve all been thinking about LeBron James this season – he stopped caring.

James was far removed from his teammates and disengaged from Luke Walton’s huddle during a timeout in the first quarter of the Lakers’ 124123 loss Sunday to the Knicks. Frazier, an analyst on MSG network, pounced at the scene.

“When you’re the face of the NBA, you should be more a part of your team,” he said on the broadcast. “No matter what is going on. In the public you got to be a part of the team. In the locker room you’re not. But you have to exude that type of togetherness in public. And right now you see he doesn’t really care.”

James has appeared to check out of this season in different moments, especially on the defensive end. On Sunday, for instance, he was caught napping when Emmanuel Mudiay snuck behind him for an easy lay-up.

The Lakers (31-39) are out of the playoff race and James’ minutes have been reduced. He still logged 35 on Sunday but went ice cold down the stretch while missing 11 of his 15 shot attempts in the fourth quarter. This will represent the first time since 2005 that James will not be in the postseason. ‘BAN DOLAN’

There were no chants of ‘Sell the Team’ directed at James Dolan. But apparently some fans had to relinquish t-shirts with that message.

Madison Square Garden security reportedly confiscated green shirts emblazoned with the phrase, “St. Patty says Ban Dolan.” The shirts, according to SNY, were being sold by the truckload outside The Mecca.

“They took from 2 of us and a 3rd put his in his pocket,” one fan wrote on Twitter about his shirt being confiscated. “@TheGarden security tracked and followed him through scanning and made him open his jacket to prove he threw it away. Then made another guard pick it out of the garbage to prove it.”
