Louis wins special elex for City Council

Former Jumaane Williams staffer, Farah Louis, won a special election on Tuesday to replace her ex-boss on the City Council representi­ng the 45th district.

Louis (top inset) served as deputy chief of staff and budget director for Williams, who was elected to the position of public advocate in November. She defeated seven other candidates for the position with over 41% of the vote with 99% of precincts reporting late Tuesday.

Flatbush, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Midwood, Canarsie and other areas of central Brooklyn will be represente­d by Louis.

Monique Chandler-Waterman, whom Williams endorsed, finished second with 30%. She previously served as his community outreach director when Williams (bottom inset) was on the City Council.

Louis will need to win a primary in June and a general election in November to keep the seat past 2019.
