‘Good father’ slain in Bronx building
A man found dead in the stairwell of the Bronx apartment house where he lived was a good guy who worried about others, friends and neighbors said, as police hunted for his killer.
O’Brian Maxwell, 30, was stabbed multiple times in the neck. A 911 call and a trail of blood led police to a fourth-floor stairwell at 3677 White Plains Road at E. 216th St., in Olinville on Sunday.
Maxwell, who had an 8year-old daughter, was a “good father” and “very humble,” said Rickierra Phillip, 28, who knew him from the neighborhood. “He was known on this block by everyone. He was a good person.
“He just basically was always looking out for everybody. He was a humble person.”
Maxwell was a delivery driver for FreshDirect, according to Phillip.
A childhood friend who was close to Maxwell told The News that he was a car enthusiast who was good humored and “always the life of the party.”
“He always cracked jokes, having a good time,” said the friend, who asked not to be identified. “I can’t believe it, it’s kind of like sad. You never really expect him to go.”
A man who was at the building has been quesioned by police, but described as uncooperative, sources said.
The NYPD released a photo Monday (inset) of another man who is being sought for questioning. He’s described as in his early 20s, wearing a red tank top with numbers on the front, black pants, a white belt, and black and white Adidas flip-flops.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
