Vic hit with hardhat: Hate-spewing rider was drunk

- BY THOMAS TRACY AND MOLLY CRANE-NEWMAN

The flame-haired creep who beat a woman with her own hardhat during a racist tirade in the Bronx had a bottle of booze and was clearly under the influence, the traumatized victim told the Daily News Wednesday.

“F—-ing Hispanics! Go back to your country!” the woman, who is black, seethed as she attacked the 54-yearold victim on a Manhattanbound No. 2 train at about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, cops said. “You come here to take our jobs!” she railed.

The victim, a contractor who has lived in the Bronx for 34 years, told The News that she and a friend were on their way home from working on asbestos treatment for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority when they crossed paths with their assailant.

“She was watching us,” said the victim, who asked to remain anonymous. “She had a little bottle of alcohol.”

Soon, the angry woman began antagonizing them, which lasted for a good 10 minutes, the victim said. When the victim’s co-worker tried to intervene, the attacker allegedly screeched, “You’re gonna defend this f———g b——h?”

“I said to my friend, ‘Say nothing. Don’t provoke her,’ ” the victim recalled.

Before long, the woman snatched the victim’s hardhat from her bag.

“She was hitting me in the face and head,” the victim said. “Shouting racist things. I’ve never had a problem with anyone — black, white — but this woman, she was drunk or on drugs. I don’t know.

“I work at night but nothing like this has happened before,” she told The News.

Once the train stopped, the raging woman ran off.

Police released a picture of her on Wednesday in the hope someone will recognize her.

The victim was treated at Einstein Hospital for bruising and back pain. Her attack is being investigated as a possible hate crime, cops said.

“I was lucky she did not kill me,” the victim said.
