Rikers guards in go-go bar bust

- BY THOMAS TRACY

Two city correction officers took a trip across the Hudson River and ended up arrested for allegedly taking part in a shooting outside a Paterson go-go bar, authorities said Saturday.

Officers Keith Hood, 29, and Rasheim Williams, 26, were charged with weapons possession related to a July 13 shooting on Getty Ave. near Hemlock St, according to the Passaic County prosecutor’s office.

Paterson police said the two Rikers Island guards were with their friend Jeffrey Hulse, 29, on Friday when Hulse allegedly opened fire on a man outside the Tease Gentleman’s Club. The 27-year-old victim was hit repeatedly and managed to run into the club. The four men were not in the bar before the shooting, officials said.

Club employees told NorthJersey.com that they tried to stop the bleeding and called 911. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where he was in critical but stable condition.

Hulse, Hood (left) and Williams (right) surrendered to authorities Friday and were arrested. The cause of the shooting was not immediately disclosed, and it was not clear how Hood and Williams factored into it.

Both city officers could face 10 years in prison if found guilty. Hulse faces up to 20 years in prison.

A spokesman for the city Department of Correction said Hood and Williams were suspended upon their arrest.

“We take this matter seriously and are conducting our own investigation,” the spokesman said in a statement.
