Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is feeling the Bern.
The left-wing New York congresswoman plans to endorse Bernie Sanders for president at his rally in Queens on Saturday, according to a source familiar with matter, a major feat for the Vermont senator who has recently slumped in the polls amid concerns after his heart attack earlier this month.
Sanders, 78, made an oblique reference to the high-profile endorsement the president.
Instead of dwelling on the Bidens, several candidates turned their attention to Warren.
As the newly minted front-runner, Warren was pressed to explain several of her most ambitious proposals, including her backing of Bernie Sanders’ signature “Medicare for All” health care plan while not necessarily committing to raising taxes to bankroll it.
“At least Bernie’s being honest here. I’m sorry, Elizabeth,” moderate Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar said after Warren refused to say whether Medicare for All would mean a tax hike on the middle class.
Sanders — who suffered a heart attack during Tuesday night’s fourth Democratic debate in Ohio, saying he would have a “special guest” with him at Saturday’s Long Island City rally.
A source confirmed to the Daily News that the guest is OcasioCortez, who worked as a volunteer on Sanders’ failed 2016 campaign.
A spokesman for the 30-year-old Queens-Bronx lawmaker did not return a request for comment. this month and faces the challenge of convincing voters he’s still up to the task of becoming president — picked up on Klobuchar’s slight, saying it is “appropriate to acknowledge taxes will go up.”
The 78-year-old democratic socialist has tried to spin his health scare in political terms and kept on that path Tuesday, pushing his Medicare for All plan as a remedy for a broken health care system.
