LAST RIDE FOR SEXY CABBIES

Creators say they’re retiring pinup calendar

- BY CLAYTON GUSE

It may be cold outside, but the creators of the city’s annual taxi driver pinup calendar hope to get New Yorkers’ blood pumping one last time.

The calendar’s 2020 edition was released Monday, and it’s chock-full of seductive photos of everyday cab drivers posing like Playboy models. It will be the final year that its creators, Phil and Shannon Kirkman, publish the erotic almanac.

Phil said the couple feels like they “took the idea to its limit” and wanted to go out on a high note.

“When we started this project, its sole purpose was to make you laugh,” the couple wrote in a letter published inside the calendar. “But that quickly evolved as we met and formed relationships with the drivers. Most shared stories of immigration, family and sacrifice.”

The pair launched the project seven years ago, and it’s since developed a cult following because of its absurd imagery.

This year’s highlights include Nino, who’s pictured shirtless next to an ad for a $1.3 million taxi medallion, and Alex, who is shown giving his hairless body a sponge bath.

“Most of the drivers are referrals from previous models and, due to the uniqueness of the ask, we go with the first 12 that say yes,” said Phil, who added that the cabbies are paid for their sultry snaps.

The calendars go for $15, and a portion of the sales go to University Settlement, a nonprofit that aims to help immigrants. They’re available for purchase at nyctaxicalendar.com.
