“Dark Waters”

Drama, PG-13. Todd Haynes (“Carol,” “Far From Heaven”) directs Mark Ruffalo as an attorney who goes up against a big chemical company implicated in the deaths of neighborin­g residents. With Anne Hathaway and William Jackson Harper.

“Frozen II”

Animated/family, PG-13. Elsa (Kristen Bell) and friends travel to a place that is trapped in autumn in hopes that she will learn more about her powers and how to save her kingdom. With the voices of Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff and Evan Rachel Wood.

“Little Joe”

Sci-fi/horror, not rated. When a plant researcher (Emily Beecher) gives her son a special plant that could bring him happiness, the plant develops a mind of its own and causes chaos. With Ben Whishaw.

“Playmobil: The Movie”

Family, not rated. A 007-type spy (voice of Daniel Radcliffe) enlists the help of two ordinary civilians (Anna Taylor-Joy, Jim Gaffigan) to save a disappeari­ng population in this animated tale inspired by the toys.
