Slay-try rap for dad in tot stabbing
A Brooklyn father who stabbed his girlfriend and their 2-year-old son with a sharpedged comb was trying to kill them both, police charged Sunday.
Jahvier Perez, 26, faces attempted murder, assault and child endangerment charges in a grisly Saturday morning attack that may have left the tot brain-damaged, police sources said.
Perez used the comb to puncture his son’s right temple and to cut the child’s mother inside the family’s home on Clinton Ave. near Greene Ave. in Clinton Hill, cops said.
The little boy was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition, authorities said.
His 24-year-old mother received medical attention for cuts on her forearm and leg and was later discharged from the hospital, cops said.
Two other children, a 21month-old and an 11-monthold, were also present during the horrific attack, cops said. They were uninjured.
Residents of the building (photo) told the Daily News they heard screams coming from inside the apartment around 7:50 a.m., and that Perez’s next-door neighbor called 911.
“We heard screaming,” said one woman, who wouldn’t give her name. “We thought, ‘what is that?’ It was a woman’s frantic screaming.”
Perez was taken to Maimonides Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. His Brooklyn Criminal Court arraignment was pending Sunday.
“It’s shocking this would happen here. It’s a safe building,” said longtime building resident Chris David, 65. “I haven’t known of any violence happening in the building in a long time. It’s very much shocking.”
