New DWI charge for Lohan’s ma
ALindsay Lohan’s mother has been arrested on Long Island for drunkenly fleeing the scene of a fender-bender in her Mercedes-Benz, police said Sunday
Dina Lohan (inset), who has a history of DWI busts, was driving her Mercedes with a suspended license when she allegedly rear-ended a vehicle outside Merrick Mall in Merrick about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to court documents. Angry that Lohan didn’t stop, the driver she hit followed the Mercedes back to Lohan’s house and called the cops, authorities say. The police officer who responded to the call found Lohan parked in her driveway smelling heavily of alcohol with red, glassy eyes and slurred speech, prosecutors claim. When Lohan tried to get out of the car she stumbled, fell to the ground and then accused the officer of pushing her, according to court documents.
She refused sobriety tests.
Lohan was charged in Nassau County Court Sunday morning with driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and driving an unregistered vehicle. Her license had been suspended because she failed to pay New York State taxes, court documents say.
She is due back in court on Wednesday.
“We are hoping we’ll resolve it favorably,” said her attorney, Mark Heller, who called the arrest an “unfortunate event.”
In April 2014, Lohan pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated drunken driving.
In 2012, police intervened in a major fight between Lohan and her daughter, who accused her mother of cocaine use and failing to pay back a $40,000 loan.
