Rose first to back Bloomy

-

Moderate Staten Island Democratic Rep. Max Rose became the first member of Congress to endorse former Mayor Bloomberg for president on Monday.

Rose (inset), who also represents a slice of southern Brooklyn, is also the first elected official in the city to back the billionaire ex-mayor’s 2020 bid for the White House.

He cited Bloomberg’s efforts to reinvigorate the city’s economy when he took office in 2002 after the 9/11 terror attacks. Rose added that Bloomberg was the best equipped to

“root out corruption” to

“put the economy back on the side of working people, fix our crumbling infrastructure, lower prescription drug costs and end the opioid epidemic.”

“There were real fears nothing would ever feel or be the same again. Mike Bloomberg took the reins, brought New York City back to life and put us on track to lead in the 21st century,” Rose said in a statement. “Mayor Bloomberg’s even-keeled and visionary leadership is what we need to reduce the chaos, partisanship and hypervitriol that has overtaken Washington.”
