Arrested in transgender hate attack

A man with a long arrest record has been busted for a hate-filled Harlem subway attack on a transgender woman, police said Monday.

Facial recognition technology helped identify 26-year-old suspect Pablo Valle, a police source said. He was arrested in New Jersey by cops from the Manhattan warrant squad, Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said in a tweet.

The suspect’s accomplice, a woman, is still being sought.

“I’m mentally and emotionallyshakenbythisattack.Ididn’t expect to be targeted for my sexual identity,” the victim, Serena Daniara, 26, told the Daily News.

Daniari was waiting for a downtown C train at the W. 155th St. station Friday night when Valle and his companion approached her.

At first, she couldn’t hear Valle because she was wearing earbuds, but when she removed them and said something, Valle blew up at her. “It wasn’t until he heard my voice that he realized I was trans,” she said.

“Are you a guy? Are you a t——? You’re a t——-!” he yelled, according to Daniari, as his companion mocked her, yelling, “He has a d—-! He definitely has a d—-!”

Daniari told them to leave her alone, and Valle spit at her and slapped her in the face, she said. She followed them onto the train to take a photo.

“They were holding the doors to figure out what to do next. I tried to take their pictures as the subway came,” she said. Valle’s female companion slapped Daniari’s phone out of her hand, police said. The duo then ran off.

A distraught Daniari got off at the next stop and called 911.

After Daniari tweeted about what happened, officials reacted angrily.

“We stand with you in love & respect,” Gov. Cuomo tweeted. “We will catch the cowards who did this and bring them to justice.”

Mayor de Blasio, meanwhile, apologized for what happened.

“Transgender and nonbinary New Yorkers deserve to travel in their city without fear,” he tweeted.

Valle has more than 20 prior arrests, a police source said, including for drugs, robbery and assault.
