Cop arrested in Bronx shoplifting rap

-

An off-duty city cop allegedly gave himself a five-finger discount while shopping at a Home Depot in the Bronx, police said Monday.

Officer Julio Jimenez, 34, strolled into the hardware store on Bruckner Blvd. in Throgs Neck on Sunday and allegedly began stuffing his pockets with appliances and electrical items, according to police. The merchandise was worth $153, authorities said.

He brazenly exited the store without paying for any of the merchandise hidden in his coat — or the four window guards in his shopping cart, police charged. Store security grabbed him outside and police were called.

Jimenez, who’s been on the force for 10 years and was recently assigned to Harlem’s 32nd Precinct, was suspended without pay after he was charged with petty larceny and stolen property.

He was issued a desk appearance ticket and released.

It was the second arrest for Jimenez, who was charged in a domestic violence case in 2014 involving his girlfriend. That case was sealed, and the NYPD said it’s prohibited by law to discuss any disciplinary action.

Jimenez was accused of dragging his pregnant girlfriend with his car as they fought at 2 a.m. in front of their 3-year-old son. The officer hit the gas pedal while his girlfriend was leaning into the back of the vehicle, records show. The woman, who had been charged with assaulting Jimenez a month earlier, suffered scrapes on her leg and a bruise on her head.
