You’re not gonna Target this store!
Peaceful demonstrators barred violent looters from breaking into a Brooklyn Target during chaotic protests over the death of George Floyd, video shows.
In the video (top) shot late Saturday, about 10 outnumbered protesters form a line and barricade angry looters from breaking into the Target at the Atlantic Terminal Mall in downtown Brooklyn.
“F—k no, F—k no,” one protester screams as the mob tries to make its way into the Target.
After a few minutes of heated exchange, the would-be looters abandoned the Target and made their way toward Fort Greene Park, according to Andrew Solender, a reporter for Forbes who witnessed the clash.
Twitter users responded with praise for the brave protesters. “Man, I love my borough,” one user posted. “Real NY’ers, real Brooklynites protecting their homes. Thank you for doing Brooklyn proud.”
The protests that broke out Saturday night were the second day of violent New York City demonstrations sparked by George Floyd’s death in police custody in Minneapolis.
