Copious COVID commissions
Since the coronavirus pandemic shut down New York in mid-March, Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio have named a combined total of 621 people to 20 different task forces, advisory councils and commissions, to guide and develop the city and state response to the virus and its reopening plans.
We’ve seen reports from the state’s COVID-19 Maternity Task Force and Domestic Violence Task Force, but so far, there’s no announced work product visible from the following panels:
The New York Forward Advisory Board; the New York State Interfaith Advisory Council; the Multi-State Advisory Council; the BlueRibbon Commission on Improving Telehealth and Broadband Access; the Reimagine Education
Advisory Council; and
Mayor de Blasio’s 10 sector advisory councils, including the Labor and Workforce Sector Advisory Council, the Large Business Sector Advisory Council, the Small Business Sector Advisory Council, the Arts, Culture and Entertainment Advisory Council, the Faith Sector Advisory Council, the Construction and Real Estate Advisory Council, the Nonprofits and Social Services Advisory Council, the Public Health and Healthcare Advisory Council, the Education and Vocational Training Advisory Council, the Surface Transportation Advisory Council, the Administration Taskforce on Racial Inclusion and Equity, the Fair Recovery Task Force; and a new, yet-to-be-named Charter Revision Commission.
Any day now.
