Nix prenup, he tore it up – Dre’s wife
Dr. Dre’s wife Nicole Young is challenging the couple’s prenup amid their high-stakes divorce, saying her husband previously admitted she was “coerced.”
Nicole, who initiated the divorce in June, filed paperwork Tuesday asking the court to set a separate trial so she can challenge the “validity and enforceability” of the premarital agreement.
“His net worth is estimated to be in the ballpark of $1 billion dollars, which was largely earned during the parties’ approximate 24-year marriage,” the filing obtained by the Daily
Newsstates.
The paperwork says Dre, a famous rapper, producer and entrepreneur whose real name is Andre Young, “demanded” that Nicole sign the prenup before they tied the knot in May 1996, around the same time he parted ways with Death Row Records.
“Andre placed undue pressure upon Nicole to sign the agreement in order to get married, leaving her no choice but to do so. She reluctantly signed it,” the filing states.
“Around two to three years after they were married, Andre tore up the parties’ premarital agreements in Nicole’s presence,” the filing prepared by Nicole’s high-powered divorce lawyer Samantha Spector reads.
Dre disposed of the documents while “acknowledging he knew Nicole had signed them as a result of duress, coercion and undue influence and knew the terms of the agreement were patently unconscionable,” the filing states.
Nicole and the super producer (together, inset) share two adult children – daughter Truly, 19, and son Truice, 23.
In one of their last public appearances together, the couple held hands as they posed with Truly at Tom Ford’s fashion show held at Milk Studios in Los Angeles in February.
