Cops have arrested an excon accused of slashing a 65-year-old man in the neck at a Bronx clothing store, police said Friday.

Jayquan Byers, 22, is facing assault and weapons charges for the Wednesday attack on White Plains Road near Lydig Ave. in Pelham Parkway.

Byers’ victim was assisting in the store when the younger man, wearing a do-rag and surgical mask and carrying a backpack, lunged at the victim with a blade, cutting him across the neck and leaving a deep gash, cops said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the attack, but Byers and his victim did not know each other, police said.

Medics took the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Byers (below) ran out of the store and was caught Friday. His arraignment was pending in Bronx Criminal Court on Saturday.

He spent two years in prison after being convicted on grand larceny charges in Manhattan and was paroled last August, court papers show. His parole ended last September.

Captain Andrew Natiw, the commanding officer of the 49th Precinct, hailed the quick arrest on Twitter.

“Great work by NYPD Warrants Squad for apprehending an individual responsible for stabbing a 65 yr old male while at work on Wednesday August 5th on the 2100 block of White Plains Rd,” Natiw said. “The victim was treated and is in stable condition.”
