BRIT: NO WAY, DAD

Spears tells court she doesn’t want him taking care of her or money

Britney Spears is dead-set against her dad returning as her caretaker after he took a leave of absence from the court-approved role last year.

In a new conservatorship filing this week, the pop star makes clear she wants Jamie Spears permanently replaced by the woman who stepped in temporarily to handle the singer’s day-to-day affairs.

“Britney is strongly opposed to having James return as conservator of her person,” the filing obtained by the Daily News states. “Rather, she strongly prefers to have Ms. (Jodi) Montgomery continue in that role as has done for nearly a year.”

A conservator has the right to restrict and limit the star’s visitors, hire and manage her security guards and access all records for the Grammy winner’s medical and psychiatric treatment.

Spears’ lawyer Samuel Ingham filed the new paperwork Monday, saying his client also wants a change to her dad’s tight control over her business affairs. He said Spears’ dad has acted as the sole manager of her estate since a co-conservator resigned in March 2019.

“Britney is strongly opposed to James continuing as sole conservator of her estate. Rather, without in any way waiving her right to seek termination of this conservatorship in the future, she strongly prefers to have a qualified corporate fiduciary appointed to serve in this role,” Ingham wrote.

A hearing on the matter is set for Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Jamie stepped in as his daughter’s conservator back in 2008 after some highly publicized turmoil in the “Toxic” singer’s life and her involuntary hospitalization.

He was calling the shots when she returned to the stage for a successful Las Vegas residency, regained regular visitation with the two sons she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline and started a longterm relationship with boyfriend Sam Asghari.

But the singer, 38, checked into a mental health facility early last year due to problems with her medications, TMZ reported, and her father sought to register the conservatorship in other states.

Late last summer, he was accused of getting physical with Spears’ eldest son.

The alleged incident happened Aug. 24 while Spears’ two sons were visiting their grandfather at his Ventura County residence, a source previously told the Daily News.

“This resulted in the child being afraid,” the source said.

The incident was reported to the Ventura County Sheriff, but no charges were filed.

Attempts to reach a lawyer for Jamie were not immediately successful Tuesday.
