Don goes MAGA nuts on Goodyear

- BY DAVE GOLDINER

President Trump called for a boycott of Goodyear tires Wednesday after the company’s workplace tolerance policy banned his trademark #MAGA caps as a display of hate speech on the job.

“Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES — They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS,” Trump tweeted.

He also suggested Goodyear’s products are substandard and too expensive.

“Get better tires for far less!” he added.

Trump spoke out after right-wing allies denounced reports of the new policy at a Goodyear plant in Kansas.

The ban, which was presented to employees via slides shown by a plant manager, said #MAGA hats are “not acceptable” attire under a “zerotolerance” policy toward hateful speech.

Goodyear also reportedly told workers not to wear anything supporting particular political candidates. It also nixed the pro-police slogan “Blue Lives Matter” and “All Lives Matter,” which many consider being a racially charged rebuke of the #BlackLivesMatter movement that swept the nation after the police killing of George Floyd.

The tire giant said it was fine with workers expressing messages of support for those who have experienced injustice like LGBT pride shirts or #BlackLivesMatter.

“We ask that they refrain from workplace [political campaigning] as well as other similar forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of equity issues,” the company said in a statement that did not specifically mention the #MAGA ban.

White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany joined in the attacks on the company.

“If you can wear a Black Lives Matter cap, you can wear a Blue Lives Matter one,” McEnany said. “This president will never apologize for standing with law enforcement.”

The company also said in a statement Wednesday that it strongly backs law enforcement.

“We have the utmost appreciation for the vital work that police do,” Goodyear said.
