Cops air pix in shove of grandmother

- BY THOMAS TRACY

Cops on Tuesday released a surveillance photo of the suspect they say shoved a 73-year-old woman onto the tracks at a Brooklyn subway station during a wild fight over his smoking inside the station.

The victim remained hospitalized with a massive head injury from Monday’s 1:30 p.m. clash inside the Clinton-Washington Aves. station in Fort Greene.

The woman, her 83-year-old husband and 30-year-old grandson were on the Manhattan-bound platform waiting for a train when a stranger standing near them began puffing away, officials said. Authorities at first believed the man was smoking marijuana but on Tuesday said it was just a regular cigarette.

When the grandson asked the man to stop smoking he went berzerk, lunged at the grandson and punched him in the face, cops said.

The victim’s shocked grandparents attempted to break up the fight.

During the wild scuffle, the suspect punched the man’s grandfather in the face and knocked the elderly woman onto the tracks — just as a train was pulling into the station.

The train’s operator saw her fall and managed to stop well short of hitting her, officials said. She was then pulled to safety.

The surly smoker ran off and had not been caught.

Medics took all three victims to New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where both the grandmother and her grandson were admitted with head injuries.

The woman’s husband suffered a cut to his head that required stitches and was released, sources said.

Cops on Tuesday released surveillance images of their attacker (inset) and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.

He was described as white, between 25 and 30, about 5-feet-7 and 200 pounds with a medium build and beard. He was wearing a black baseball hat, a black hoodie, gray pants, white sneakers and a backpack.

Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
