Ominous outlook

To Voicer Bill Barrett: Here are the NYC crime statistics that you have asked for, hopefully for the very last time, so we can put this myth of crime in NYC being higher now than it was under Rudy Giuliani to bed once and for all. In 2001, which was Giuliani’s last year as mayor, there were 649 homicides in

NYC, and the average for the last five years of his administration was 679 homicides. In 2019, there were 311 homicides in NYC, and the average for the previous five years is 315 homicides. This year there have been 362 murders — yes, higher from last year’s total, but still a lot better than Giuliani’s numbers. And yes, all the other categories are also down.

If Joe Biden is elected president, his voters will have four long years of regretting their decision while having their liberties, freedom and quality of life diminished under Biden and the far left’s disastrous policies. Be careful what you wish for, you may live to regret it. Robert Neglia

Lost in bureaucracy

Pointing fingers, nothing is done, and we can add to the editorial (“Houses of ill repute,” Oct. 24) these facts regarding NYCHA and their lead issues: Everyone knew and did nothing — I suggest you contact the EPA in New Jersey (lead division) in regards to hundreds of complaints that also go to their office and see what happens to hundreds of files after they are date-stamped and shown as being received. One would hope that the office is more concerned with the health issues of lead poisoning in children than passing the files around an office, making sure t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted, and a year later the files get closed and shown as mission accomplished when nothing was done.
