Fighting for life after stray shot

- BY BRITTANY KRIEGSTEIN AND JOHN ANNESE

The devastated daughter of a Staten Island woman shot in the head by a stray bullet said her mom is still fighting to survive, even thought her doctor’s prognosis is grim.

Sue Doe, 52, needs multiple surgeries after an errant bullet hit her in the lobby of 225 Park Hill Ave., an apartment building in Clifton, Monday night, her daughter, Kennedlyn Gould, 18, told the Daily News Wednesday.

Before that happens, her brain activity needs to stabilize, her daughter said.

“She’s in critical condition, she’s in the ICU,” Gould said. “The doctor said she wouldn’t make it, but she’s fighting.”

Doe worked for the Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on Staten Island, her daughter said.

“She hardly ever left the house. It was just work and home,” Gould said.

Doe lives in a different building on the block. She headed there that night to help Gould and one of her friends, who lives at 225 Park Hill Ave., after they got into a fight with another young woman in the neighborhood.

That’s when the shooting started. A white SUV pulled up outside and someone in the vehicle opened fire, cops said.

Investigators do not believe Doe was the intended target, and one witness told The News Monday night that the shooter was likely gunning for a group of men outside.

Her son, Sutonio Viddy, 21, was with her at the time.

“I was like three, four feet away,” he said with a pained voice. “I turned around and I saw my mom drop.”

Viddy didn’t want to talk more about the shooting.

“I just want justice, that’s all,” he said.

Less than a block away on July 26, Grashino Yancy, 32, died after a stray bullet ripped through his right leg.
