Injures leg in private workout
State guard injured his leg Wednesday during a workout on his own in Southern California.
The team announced the injury without providing further details about the severity or any timeline for his availability with training camp starting Dec. 1 and the season beginning Dec. 22. Thompson was scheduled to be evaluated in the coming days, Golden State said.
This could be a severe blow to the Warriors, who finished worst in the NBA last season. Thompson didn’t play at all during the coronavirus-shortened season as he worked back from surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee. He suffered that injury in the deciding Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors
Patriots coach Bill Belichick on Wednesday called on the U.S. government to take action against Turkey and Azerbaijan for “unprovoked and violent attacks against Armenians.”
In his media availability, Belichick said: “We’ve seen when humanitarian crisis and things like that, like ethnic cleaning, go unpunished, they just continue to happen. I hope that we can put a stop to that.”
Belichick also wore an Armenian flag pin during his 2015 visit to the White House, reportedly at the urging of Berj Najarian, the team’s director of football/head coach administration, who is of Armenian descent.
Belichick was responding to Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, who sent out a letter to all Defense Department employees this week calling Belichick
“incomparable” and calling on them to heed his catchphrase: “Do your job.”
Belichick said he was flattered by the reference and then brought up the Armenian conflict “while we’re on the subject.”
Former Dolphins Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones was arrested early Wednesday on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm.
According to a police report, Jones was walking in a gas station parking lot at 4:15 a.m. with a loaded handgun protruding from his pants pocket, and said he had never had a concealed weapons permit. Jones was difficult with officers and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, the report said.
Jones, 32, played for the Dolphins from 2010-19 and twice made the Pro Bowl. He was released March 18 and has been out of the NFL since.
BROWNS SHORTHANDED
Baker Mayfield joked about sending a care package to Myles Garrett’s house.
“Some soup and maybe some poems he can read up on,” the quarterback cracked.
As they try to stay one step ahead of the coronavirus, the Browns practiced Wednesday without their defensive star and were forced to place three other regulars on the COVID-19 list after they had close contact with an infected person.
Garrett was isolated at home because he was “feeling sick,” according to Browns coach Kev
The NFL has told teams to keep any players showing COVID-19-like symptoms away from their facilities until they can be tested again.
Stefanski said Garrett, who has 9 sacks and been dominant all season, has not tested positive. He could be back by Friday, pending test results over the next two days.

The Browns also placed three more players — starting right tackle kicker Cody and long snapper Charley
