2 killed in car in Qns. were stepbrothers

The two men fatally gunned down in a car in Queens were stepbrothers, police sources said Saturday.

Nair Vives, 26, and stepsibing Angel Caraballo, also 26, darted through oncoming traffic and crashed into a fence near Rockaway and Brookville Blvds. by JFK Airport on Friday, cops said.

Vives, who was driving the green Nissan Maxima (right), was shot in the shoulder. Caraballo, the father of a 4-year-old boy, who was in the back seat, was shot in the neck and shoulder, police said.

Both men were rushed to Jamaica Hospital after the 11:45 a.m. crash.

The child and a 20-year-old woman, who are not related, weren’t hit by gunfire and were taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center with minor injuries, cops said.

Cops on Saturday were trying to track down the victims’ movements and determine where they were shot.

Bullet holes were found in the passenger side of the sedan, leading investigators believe that the gunman approached on that side, hitting Caraballo first. Ballistic evidence was found about a block from where the car crashed.

One witness, who wouldn’t give his name, said he saw a car driving alongside the victims as the gunfire erupted.

The two stepbrothers lived together in Far Rockaway, sources said.

Vives was released from Attica Correctional Facility upstate on Aug. 22 after serving four years behind bars, according to court records.

The ex-con was a Bloods member with an extensive criminal history for assault, criminal mischief and gang assault, police sources said.

Caraballo was never arrested or affiliated with a gang, police sources said.
