Your vote will come to haunt you

- Jerome Nutter GETTY IMAGES Marty Goodman

Brooklyn: Dear Rep. Nicole Malliotakis: I don’t live within the boundaries of your district, but as a fellow New Yorker, I feel compelled to express my feelings to you: I considered voting for you in the general election when you ran against de Blasio four years ago. But as an ex-Republican, I feel that my former party has hitched their wagon to a runaway horse with predictable results (the RNC of today bears no discernible connection to the party I knew back in the 1970s and 80s).

I cannot fathom how you could still vote against certifying the electoral votes after an “unhinged crowd” invaded the first branch of government at the president’s behest. Democrats now have control of the Senate, the House and the White House. In what world does disputing the immutable results of Nov. 3 have a purpose?

If you’re worried about reelection in 2022, you may find your corporate funding suddenly dried up due to this Republican-inspired attack. If you were worried about being primaried if you had split from the party line, I suggest that this issue is too important to yield to partisanship. If you’re concerned about losing your base, maybe it’s time to educate them.

If Republicans honestly want to be the party of law and order, how about upholding it when it matters most? Doesn’t loyalty to the Constitution and election law take precedence over loyalty to a party? Or loyalty to a man?

Maybe it’s time to lead, not follow.

Ms. Representation

After four years of totalitarian madness, Trump is gone but his entrails remain. I am left with Trumpist Nicole Malliotakis. If I have a problem with any governmental matter, I am supposed to go to her for my representation. I am sorry, but Malliotakis does not represent me politically or personally in any way. Why would I want help from someone who would dare to deny my right to vote for Joe Biden? Gary Perl

Bronx: My suggestion to the Republican Party is to become the party of inclusion from the top down. Their top of the ticket for 2024 should be a combination of two non-white candidates. This action will get rid of the racist riffraff who invaded the Capitol and open the eyes of those 147 lost-soul Republicans with the Trumpian attitude and mindset that hasn’t worked too well for the party. I’m an 80-year-old Democratic Socialist who wishes you well, as we need at least two political parties to choose from. You seem to have knowledgeable men and women in your midst; use their talent for the good of the country.

All things considered, there should have been a grand departure ceremony for President Trump complete with federal officers in full uniform escorting Mr. Trump in handcuffs.

Behold, the Ignoramus Uprising! Decades in the making, done at the beck and call of a mentally disturbed President Trump. We are going to be stuck with them for quite a while, so I beseech one and all to buckle up for a bumpy ride into the American future. Evan Stone

Voicer Lydia DiBello is concerned: “All the Democrats have managed to do with their two impeachments is water down the meaning of impeachment.” I guess extortion and insurrection are insufficient! I remind you, Lydia, that 25 years ago, Republicans did just that with the impeachment of Bill Clinton for lying about an illicit relationship with an intern. Democrats were doing the work to defend the security of the American people and hold a criminally corrupt president accountable. Sadly, many Republicans, yourself included, suffer from Democratic Derangement Syndrome.

Ominous utterance

Has anyone heard the latest from media maven Katie Couric wondering how we will deprogram the people who supported Trump? Those wonderful words then echoed on CNN. So now we must be deprogrammed because we don’t agree with the liberal left? Very nice indeed. What’s next, thought camps? Stalin would be proud. Stephen Rychlenski

Many who voted for Biden who are living on the edge from month to month will be the least able to survive his socialist policies without sacrificing a great deal of their quality of life. Those who have been fawning over Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, thinking she is cool, those who are drinking the global warming and Green New Deal Kool-Aid, those who think they are going to raise their boats by lowering others through wealth redistribution and those who have hated the orange-haired mean man more than they have loved their country will suffer the most by embracing the same failed policies of the Obama regime. Many will continue to enjoy the American dream while the oppressed continue to struggle with theirs. There is irony in that, which will make all the unpleasantness of the next four years seem even bleaker.

Unhealthy visitors

With every visit, Board of Health inspectors rack up at least five to 10 violations that will cost you $10,000-$20,000 if you do not take the day off to go fight the violations. When they come back for a re-inspection, they will find five to 10 more violations. They often barely speak English. No two inspectors are on the same page about rules. They call fruit flies “filth flies.” My wife and I owned two bars and one bar/restaurant for just over 25 years. Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio, with all their B.S., have forced us out of an industry that we loved dearly. There are many more fed-up owners who feel the same and will do the same. P.S. Get rid of the letter grades, they are arbitrary.

Bait and switch

Manhattan: I recently went to my local post office to send a package within the U.S. When I got to the window, the clerk tells me to use Priority Mail, it will get there within three days. It has been nine days and it’s delayed. If they know there are delays, why do they charge you for expedited services?

Cops and condemnation

Why doesn’t New York Attorney General Letitia James speak out against the violent Black Lives Matter march over the Brooklyn Bridge on Monday night? She was quick to condemn police handling of earlier BLM rioting and looting and filed a lawsuit against them. However, not a peep from her about the latest BLM incident, during which there was a lot of cursing directed at the police and bottles thrown at them, injuring several. There was also vandalism and graffiti on the bridge. We should all be grateful to and support the cops who put themselves on the line to protect us and our town. And that should include Letitia James.

Local women went far

Of course, we are proud that Sonia Sotomayor, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez are from New York City. I am even more proud that Sotomayor graduated from my alma mater, Cardinal Spellman High School. Jennifer Lopez graduated from Preston High School and Lady Gaga attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart. We are grateful to their dedicated teachers.

Brooklyn: I just read in your paper that Kim Kardashian has 200 million followers on Instagram. That’s another way of saying there are 200 million people with IQs below 10.

Richmond, Va.: In my years of reading the Daily News (starting when it was 2 cents), most of the letters are complaints. Lately, one complaint is cable TV companies raising prices. Well, I solved that. I got rid of all cable. In fact, I watch very little TV anyway. The packages are terrible; I also hate paying for channels I will never watch. If all TV watchers get rid of all cable, watch how quickly the prices will come down. I, and many seniors here in the Richmond area, have gotten rid of it. Do it in NYC, too.
