Jan. 3 0 ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE IN EFFECT ALL WEEK Covid-lock is coming! Many of the larger vaccination sites the city and state have designated are more accessible by car than transit. Have you seen the multi-mile lines of cars in California, Florida, and elsewhere jamming local communities? Hope we see better planning here. Here’s a rundown of some of the major vaccination sites in the coming weeks. These include: the Brooklyn Army Terminal, the Javits Center, the Bathgate Postal Contract Station (Third Ave. and 174th St. in the Bronx), and Aqueduct Racetrack. Sites at Citi Field and the Empire Outlets in Staten Island are slated to open in the coming days, but supplies have been unstable, so exact timelines are uncertain. Vaccine shortages have also forced temporary closures at some sites; Gov. Cuomo has warned it’s a “week to week situation,” so be aware that activity levels may vary. Expect an uptick in biking in Astoria. More than 50 Citi Bike stations are slated to open across the neighborhood over the next several weeks. The Kearny ramp of the Pulaski Skyway, shuttered since 2014, reopened last week. Drivers will now be able to exit the southbound Skyway to — or enter the northbound Skyway from — the South Kearny Peninsula, the area between the Hackensack and Passaic Rivers.
