Vic chases mugger in Qns., gets shot at

- BY WES PARNELL

A brazen mugger robbed an off-duty MTA employee at gunpoint in Queens, stealing the man’s wallet — and firing off rounds when the fearless victim gave chase, police said Sunday.

The 64-year-old victim was getting out of his vehicle in front of his Rockaways home near Bay 45th St. and Beach Channel Drive in Edgemere about 1 p.m. on Tuesday when the mugger flashed a silver gun and demanded his belongings, cops said.

The man coughed up his wallet, which held $120, and the mugger ran off toward Beach 44th St., police said.

The enraged victim hopped back in his vehicle and chased after the crook. The mugger turned and fired off several rounds into the car, forcing it to stop. The vehicle was damaged, but the lucky driver was not struck, police said.

Cops released a surveillance image of the suspect (above), believed to be in his 20s, and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
