Meek: I told Kobe’s widow sorry for lyrics

- Peter Sblendorio

Rapper Meek Mill claimed Tuesday that he privately apologized to Vanessa Bryant over a song lyric about her late husband Kobe that she described as “extremely insensitive and disrespectful.”

The lyric — “And if I ever lack, I’m going out with my choppa it’ll be another Kobe” — which surfaced last week, appeared to refer to Kobe Bryant’s 2020 death.

“I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public,” the rapper, born Robert Rihmeek Williams tweeted.

Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were among nine people killed in a helicopter crash in Southern California in January 2020.

Vanessa Bryant addressed the rap on her Instagram story late Monday and tagged Meek Mill in the post.

“I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this,” she wrote.
