Not the same
Lackawaxen, Pa.: Voicer Robert Reif posits an equivalency between the “MAGA mob” and the “BLM[archers],” based on what he views as similar levels of violence. Despite the delusional nature of the former’s grievances, everyone must be granted the same rights of speech, assembly and petition. What is less clear is whether protection should be afforded equally to those unalienable interests of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Despite the words of Hale and Henry (or the motto on a N.H. license plate), these rights more properly form a hierarchy of value, topped by life. Black Lives
Matter’s interest is in nothing less than life; MAGA, at best, seeks the happiness of continued white privilege. Contextually, what the Voicer suggests appears to represent a false equivalence.
