Bust in Harlem liquor store slay

- Rocco Parascandola

A suspected gunman wanted for a Harlem liquor store slaying has been busted, police said Wednesday,

Isiah Smith, 35, was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with murder and gun possession in the shooting of Darell McAllister on the night of Dec. 22.

Police said Smith is a Bloods gang member, though it does not appear his victim had any known connection to a gang.

The trouble began when McAllister, 24, got into an argument with several men inside R & C Wine & Liquor on E. 111th St. near Madison Ave.

McCallister threw a punch and one of the men — later identified as Smith — pulled out a .22-caliber handgun and fired a bullet into the victim’s head, according to cops.

The victim, of the Bronx, was paroled in 2019 after serving more than two years for a gun conviction.

He had four arrests on his record — three for gun possession and one for marijuana, police said.

But his mother, Rena Harris, saw the other side of him, calling him a “mama’s boy.”

President Biden vowed Wednesday to deliver 25 million face masks to thousands of community health centers and soup kitchens to help battle coronavirus.

White House officials said they hope to help poor Americans with the deliveries to 60,000 food pantries and 1,300 centers nationwide.

“Many low-income Americans still lack affordable access to this basic protection,” White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients said.

The $86 million program is expected to reach 15 million low-income Americans. Biden once backed sending a mask to every American, but has since backed off that idea.

“Months ago, sending a mask to every American would have been a good idea,” Zients said. “Today, masks are widely available in many different shapes and sizes.”

Biden has made a point to stress mask-wearing more than ex-President Trump, who regularly mocked rivals for wearing masks and resisted wearing them.
