A man died and two people were wounded in a wild Bronx street shooting Saturday that was interrupted when police officers came upon the scene, cops said.

Two men fired guns at a group of people on E. 165th St. near Findlay and College Aves. in Concourse Village around 6:20 p.m., said police sources.

“I just heard shots and I threw myself on the floor,” said Mike Hernandez, 26, who worked at the El Pollo #1 Deli Grocery at the corner of E. 166th St. and Findlay Ave.

“Trust me — it was a lot of shots. It was a lot of shots,” Hernandez said.

Officers patrolling nearby heard the gunfire, said NYPD Assistant Chief Kenneth Lehr. Three NYPD officers, all in uniform, were soon at the scene, said police sources.

Officers saw two armed men firing guns at a third man, who was running toward the cops. The armed suspects’ bullets hit that man numerous times in the torso, said law enforcement sources. The man, 21, was later declared dead at Lincoln Hospital.

Another gunshot victim, a man in his 50s, was hit in the arm by a bullet apparently fired by the two suspects, said law enforcement sources. That man “was not connected” to the initial incident, Lehr told reporters at the scene.

As the two suspects fired, the police officers fired back. One police bullet hit a shooter in the left arm, said law enforcement sources.

“The gunmen then tossed their firearms under a nearby van and were taken into custody,” said Lehr.

The man in his 50s who was hit in the arm by the suspects was treated by police at the scene and later taken to Lincoln Hospital. He was undergoing surgery late Saturday, Lehr said.

The suspect hit in the arm by the police bullet was identified by sources as a 22-year-old man. He was also taken to Lincoln Hospital, and was reported in stable condition.

The second shooting suspect, who was not wounded, was arrested at the scene, said police sources.

No bullets hit the cops at the scene, who sources identified as a lieutenant and two officers.

Police did not immediately release identities of those involved in the incident, which they said remained under investigation.
