Police have arrested a suspect for fatally stabbing a beloved Brooklyn cook, cops said.

John Headley, 32, was nabbed Friday and charged with murder and weapons possession for knifing Ken Baird, 37, during an argument in December, police said.

Baird and Headley were fighting on Crown St. near Utica Ave. in Crown Heights on Dec. 12 when the suspect pulled out a blade, relatives said.

“He got into an argument with this person,” the victim’s twin sister, Avianne Baird, told the Daily News shortly after his death. “He was stabbed once.”

Medics rushed him to Kings County

Hospital, but he could not be saved.

Avianne Baird said her brother was drinking and hanging out with his friends before the fatal confrontation.

Baird (inset), a father of four, was a native of Tobago who moved to the U.S. in 1995. He spent his last three years working at Bed-Stuy Fish Fry, which ignited his love of cooking, friends said.

“He fell in love with cooking. He would take passion in what he does, he would take his time,” said chef Andre Chin. “He graduated from being a student to being someone who could teach others.”

“[He] was a lovable guy,” Chin said. “I can remember instances where he would get his check and step outside and get everyone a drink. He couldn’t help himself.”

He was also a generous man, his sister said.

“He saw old people in the street, he helped them. ‘You hungry? Come, I’ll get you something to eat,’ he would say.”

When he bought new clothes, he got rid of the old ones.

“He would give them away to his friends,” said his sister.

Headley lives around the corner from the crime scene. His arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending Saturday.
