Man, 73, bashed in Hell’s Kitchen

- BY WES PARNELL

A 73-year-old man, minding his own business walking down the street in Manhattan, was sucker-punched by a stranger, startling video shows —— the latest assault in a disturbing spate of unprovoked attacks.

The victim was walking slowly on W. 47th St. near 10th Ave. in Hell’s Kitchen when the assailant, running by him in the opposite direction, slams him in the chest, knocking him to the ground with one massive blow about 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, video shows.

Medics took the victim to Mount Sinai West hospital in stable condition, cops said.

The deranged attacker continued running east on W. 47th St., but not before video surveillance captured his image (inset).

He is described as between 28 and 30 and 5-feet-10. He was wearing a red jacket, gray sweatpants and a dark baseball cap.

Cops are asking the public’s help identifying and tracking down the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

The assault is the most recent in a string of unprovoked attacks.

In a similar attack, Jorge Martinez, 62, was sucker-punched in the face by a stranger while walking to meet his girlfriend in the Bronx on March 28.

Martinez is now struggling to pay medical bills.

A Hasidic couple was walking in lower Manhattan on Wednesday with their 1-year-old daughter when a crazed man slashed both parents, then attacked the helpless tot, cutting her across the chin.

The alleged stabber, Darryl Jones, 30, made only it a few blocks before he was arrested.

He was ordered held without bail Friday in Manhattan Criminal Court.
