Bullet grazes head of girl, 5, on B’klyn street
A 5-year-old girl was grazed in the head by a bullet as she played on a sidewalk just steps from her Brooklyn home Monday, police said.
The little girl was coming home from shopping with her family about 6 p.m., and had a piece of chalk in her hand, ready to doodle at the corner of Montauk and New Lots Aves. when a half-dozen shots erupted.
“Everyone was getting out of the car. She got out of the car first. She had chalk, doing what kids do. And shots rang out,” said her dad, who didn’t give his name.
“She turned and felt the pain,” he continued. “I’m disgusted by the whole neighborhood. It put like a slice on her head.”
Medics rushed the girl from the East New York scene to Brookdale University Hospital in stable condition. She was released and returned home Monday night.
“My daughter said her head hurt,” her father said. “She’s aware of what happened, and she knows the neighborhood. We have to find somewhere else to live.”
Cops haven’t made any arrests.
