PHILADELPHIA — Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith, or the Mets’ home run brothers, reminded us what their power bats can do together to create a formidable lineup.

Alonso smashed his 70th career home run, and first of the year, in the Mets’ 8-4 win over the Phillies on Tuesday. The two-run shot came in the ninth inning, and it made Alonso the fastest player in Major League Baseball history to reach 70 home runs. He edged out the Yankees’ Aaron Judge who needed 231 games to reach that mark, compared to Alonso’s 220.
