Demonstrate democracy

Hartsdale, N.Y.: As a Black man, I have experienced more interaction with police forces than I should have — a lot more than I would have if I had been born with a different skin color. But a word to those who march, demonstrate, express themselves or otherwise show sympathy for those seeking equal treatment: I don’t care about you marching, expressing or sympathizing if you are not planning on showing up to vote. One is done to make you feel good about yourself; voting creates curative action. It is the real work of society. So put some of that effort where it actually counts, please. That’s the voting booth.
