Before becoming a world-renowned comedian, Tiffany Haddish once was a foster child. Now, with all of her success, Haddish is expressing her own desire to become a mother and adopt a child.

In a revealing interview with E! News’ Daily Pop, Haddish hinted that adoption time may just be around the corner.

“I’m taking parenting classes now to adopt,” Haddish told Daily Pop. “I’m looking at [ages] 5 and up, really like 7.”

The 41-year-old actress and girlfriend of rapper and actor Common said that she chose that age range because she wants the child to be somewhat independent.

“I want them to be able to know how to use the restroom on their own, and talk,” she said. “I want them to know that I put in the work, and I wanted them.”

Last summer, Haddish previously expressed unease with welcoming a new child, explaining that racism was a factor that influenced her decision at the time.

“I would hate to give birth to someone that looks like me and then knowing that they’re gonna be hunted or killed,” Haddish said at the time to Carmelo Anthony on his podcast.

Before concluding her interview with E!, Haddish joked that she might have children of hers walking around somewhere in the world.

“Here’s something everybody don’t know, I’m going to tell you,” she explained. “When I was 21, I was really hard up with money and gave up a bunch of eggs. So who knows? I might got some kids out in these streets. I doubt it, though, because I never got the bonus.”
