GALLAGHER, OSF, Brother Joseph - Passed on June 16 at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood. Brother Joseph is the son

of the late Katherine Brady Gallagher of Corratubbe­r, County Cavan Ireland and

the late John Boyle Gallagher of Ballagany Ardara, County Donegal, Ireland. Brother Joseph was a native of Glen Cove, NY and was raised in Ozone Park, Queens, NY. Brother Joseph entered the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn in 1961 and received the Religious Habit of the Order in 1962. At his reception, he received the name Brother Dunstan. Brother taught at Saint Aidan’s School in Williston Park, NY and Saint Anthony’s High School in Smithtown, NY. Brother Joseph served as Supervisor of Schools for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. While at St. Anthony’s High School, Smithtown, NY, Brother Joseph served as department Chairman/Assistant Principal Dean of Studies and Director of Developmen­t. Brother served as Counselor and Program Director at Pederson-Krag Mental Health Clinic, Huntington Station, NY as well as Associate Director of Hope House, Port Jefferson. He was Training Director for the Suffolk Coalition and served in the Pastoral Center for Addiction Ministry. He attended Saint Francis College, Brooklyn where he received his BA degree in Sociology. He received an MS degree from Long Island University in Secondary Education. Brother Joseph attended SUNY Albany for graduate Economics as well as

Tel Aviv University, Israel. Later he attended Moscow University on a grant to study its school system as part of a U.S. delegation for the Office of Education Scholarshi­p. Brother Joseph is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Galanteis, his nephews, John Gallagher, Brian Gallagher and Peter Gallagher and his niece Jacqueline Kutscher. Viewing at Our Lady of Angels Chapel at St. Anthony’s High School, 275 Wolf Hill Road, South Huntington, NY, Friday 2-5:30 PM (Today) and Saturday 9-10:30 AM. Funeral Mass will

also take place at the chapel on Saturday at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to the Franciscan Brothers.
