MAILBAG Dear Gridlock Sam,

Is alternate side parking back to 4 days a week on streets with 4 days posted? Anthony

Dear Anthony,

Great question. Since the temporary ASP rules were sparked by COVID, now that most COVID rules are being lifted, will ASP rules return to what’s stated on the signs? A reminder of the change: residential streets without meters which have multiple days posted are only cleaned on the last one. Example: If the sign reads No Parking 9 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. Mon-Thurs you can stay parked on Monday but must move on Thursday.

I reached out to the Sanitation Department, who told me these regulations will be in effect for the foreseeable future. They say it has had little to no impact on the cleanliness of the streets. I also don’t see any of the mayoral candidates running on a platform to INCREASE ASP days.
