A volunteer for mayoral hopeful Eric Adams was stabbed Sunday while distributing campaign literature in the Bronx, according to the campaign.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, was cornered by two attackers at 149th St. and Morris Ave. in Mott Haven just after 2:40 p.m., police sources said. They argued, and video shows one of the men repeatedly stabbing the victim before both run off, sources said.

The victim then flagged down police officers nearby, sources said.

He underwent surgery at Lincoln Hospital on Sunday evening, a campaign spokesman said. Police said he was in stable condition.

Cops found several Adams posters nearby, sources said.

Police discovered a knife about a block away and an ice pick at the scene, sources said. Investigators believe the ice pick belongs to the victim, police sources said.

“He was stabbed with an ice pick, which is one of the most dangerous weapons you can use in a stabbing,” Adams said Sunday. “He went into surgery. We believe he has stabilized.”

Detectives will likely try to interview the man when he’s out of surgery to find out more about why he was attacked, Adams said.

“During this time we don’t know what it’s connected to,” Adams added.

Adams described the man as “one of our most committed volunteers up in the Bronx.”

“He was there every day, he’d come in, pick up his supplies, and just hand them out. He was really a committed volunteer, and he has been doing that since we opened in the Bronx office,” Adams said.

“This is a guy that had been going into the Bronx campaign office up there every day to get literature,” Adams spokesman Evan Thies told the Daily News. “They think he is going to be OK,” he added.

“He was like a supervolunteer. He was there every day.”

Rival candidates shared their sympathies.

“My heart hurts for Team Adams today,” tweeted Maya Wiley. “New Yorkers shouldn’t have to fear walking down the street.”

“Horrible news,” stated Andrew Yang. “My thoughts are with your volunteer, their family, and your entire team, Eric.”
